Supporting asbestos consultancy and access planning
ARC can provide drone-assisted visual inspections to support asbestos consultancy, roof survey planning, high-level photographic records and access reviews where safe and legally permissible.
Ask about drone inspections
Drone inspection is a supporting visual tool for sites where roof access, high-level inspection or survey planning needs to be considered carefully before arranging physical access.
Visual checks of roofs, elevations and difficult access areas from a safe operating position.
Preliminary access review before scaffold, MEWP access or further inspection is arranged.
Images to support reports, client discussions and planning decisions.
Support for asbestos refurbishment survey planning where roof access is restricted.
Review of visible roof coverings, plant areas, valleys, gutters and general access issues.
A preliminary visual check may reduce unnecessary access risk at the earliest planning stage.
Drone inspections are visual-only. They do not involve sampling, disturbance of materials, physical inspection, opening-up works, or confirmation of asbestos content.
A drone inspection cannot confirm whether a material contains asbestos. Where asbestos identification is required, suitable physical access and representative sampling by a competent person will still be necessary.
Drone images may help identify visible materials, access constraints, roof layouts and areas requiring further inspection, but they do not replace an asbestos refurbishment or demolition survey where intrusive inspection is required.
Drone inspection can be useful at the planning stage of roof works or refurbishment works, particularly where roof access is unavailable at the first visit. The images can help identify areas where scaffold, MEWP access or later physical inspection may be required.
However, if the survey scope requires inspection beneath roof coverings, sampling of suspect materials, or confirmation of hidden layers, drone inspection alone will not be sufficient.
Drone inspections are carried out by a registered and insured commercial drone operator. All drone work is subject to CAA requirements, site-specific risk assessment, suitable weather conditions, safe take-off and landing arrangements, airspace restrictions, privacy considerations, safe separation distances, visual line of sight requirements and insurance limitations.
ARC will only carry out drone flights where the work can be completed safely and lawfully.
