Case Study 3 - Financial Services Group

We were successful in a tender process to implement a full asbestos management compliance package for the UK's largest mutual life, pensions and investment company across their group offices in the UK and Ireland. With multiple offices in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Wilmslow, Bath, Lichfield and Dublin, this contract required considerable planning and preparation.

On award of this contract in 2017, the first action we took was to implement asbestos management plans for each building in each city to ensure that effective procedures and control of works were in place from the outset, to prevent workers disturbing asbestos. Following this, a full asbestos management survey of each building was conducted. A full room numbering system was implemented for each building to ensure that the precise location of asbestos would be known.

Facilities staff in each city were provided with asbestos management and asbestos awareness training to ensure staff were fully conversant with their legal duties.

Following completion of the management surveys, the management plans were updated and priorities for action were established. We prepared licensed asbestos removal specifications for tender, and appointed independent analysts to certify removal works for safe re-occupation on completion. We then carried out an inspection immediately following each project to ensure that all parties had completed their works to a suitable standard.

We were delighted to have this compliance contract renewed in 2019 and again in 2022 for a further three year period, and continue to carry out regular condition inspections, refresh asbestos training, and management plan reviews and updates.
